Hello! My name is Marcela and I got a B. A. from UCLA in Psychology and Spanish Literature and a M. A. in Forensic Psychology. I've been academically helping students since 2006 and have loved every moment. I began as a tutor volunteering for non-profit against cancer organizations and for high-risk neighborhood high schools. I have extensive experience teaching students diagnosed with autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and OCD. Part of my services include executive functioning skills, study skills, test-prep strategies (e. g. G&T, Hunter test, ISEE/SSAT, SAT, ACT, TACHS), and I cover many subjects such as Math (Algebra I & II, Geometry), Reading Comprehension, Writing, Social Studies, Psychology, Spanish and more. I've worked with hundreds of students, from pre-k to college level, and they have all become part of my heart and of the passion that I put into every one of my sessions. My husband and I had tried different tutors for our child who has special needs at school. Our child did not want to meet anyone else anymore and Marcela was our last hope. The first session, our child didn’t want to get out of her room. Marcela was able to relate with her, talked to her and our child was ready to begin her session. My husband could hear how they worked together, we were amazed. Marcela is a miracle worker, she has a natural gift to build great rapport with her students and she’s very patient. She has many materials of her own, great teaching strategies, and keeps her sessions creative and engaging. She also works with our 10th grader son, we can tell she has experience working with students of all ages. We highly recommend Marcela, she’s been a great foundation for learning and academic improvement in our home.
