About Makayla

Hello! I'm a recent college-grad and returning to my hometown to reconnect with my loved ones. Childcare and education has always been an area of my life I've nurtured in every city I've taken residence. It's important for me to connect and share my personal creativity with the people around me. I have vast experience as a caretaker and educator; I've held a part-time position with two kids (aged 8 & 10) of a single-parent household. In the midst of Covid, I assisted with lesson plans and homework assignments in a fifth grade classroom. I monitored student behavior and remained proactive in their interests in order to modify supportive methods. Recently, I was an Au Pair in Italy. My pre-school students were by far the most dynamic group of children I assimilated to. Each of them with their own quirk; requiring different levels of nurturing. Operations of the classroom was child-led and teacher guided which set a precedent of trust between me and my students.
