About Makaila

Education: I am a college graduate of Virginia State University majoring in Music Education. Experience: I have over four years of experience working with children, including roles as a substitute teacher at Portsmouth Public Schools, Chesapeake Public Schools, and Chesterfield Public Schools, I tutored students for Petersburg Public Schools, I was a support worker for Colonial Heights Public Schools , Student Teaching for Chesterfield Public Schools, and I currently work at Blackstone Primary School in Nottoway County as a full-time elementary music teacher. Passion: My passion is in Music Education preK-12, and I am dedicated to providing quality care and education to children through music and arts with hands on creativity. Personal: I am a mother to a 1-year-old son and understand the importance of balancing college, parenthood, with a steady work-life. Time management is my primary goal! I am CPR certified, and follow any direction or task to the best of my ability.
