About Mairin

Over a decade of tutoring experience with a focus on mathematics instruction, test prep, and homework help for grades 5-12. The most effective way to teach is to listen to a student, discern their problems, and communicate solutions in a clear, engaging, and encouraging manner. Two years into high school, I found myself struggling with math- once my best subject- under the direction of a new teacher. I decided to get some books and teach myself. Soon I was tutoring peers and younger students who struggled similarly. I've been tutoring ever since, developing a greater skill set along the way, and collecting a small library of math and test prep books, learning tools, and useful media. Relating to that struggle has made it easier for me to connect with and motivate students to succeed. I am flexible with scheduling, can meet you in your home/office/suitable public location. I also offer finals prep, weekly appointments, experience with FLVS, paper and project editing, and texting Q&A.
