I am a Pediatric Emergency nurse who is spending the summer in Alaska. I have always loved working with kids from volunteering as a soccer coach and Big Sister through Big Brothers Big Sisters to now working with children in the Emergency Department. I am kind, compassionate, and have a deep passion for ensuring the wellness/happiness of kiddos! I love cooking and would be happy to make your child meals after a fun day of activities. I love animals and have a 4-year-old french bulldog named Thor-I would be happy to give your pets extra love too. You can rest assured that your child will be safe with me as I am BLS certified as well as Pediatric Advanced Life Support certified. Your child's health and happiness are of the utmost importance to me!

To Whom It May Concern, This recommendation is in regards to Maggie P., who is currently a volunteer in our progam. BBBS is a local nonprofit agency that seeks to make a positive difference in the lives of children by promoting their self-esteem, expanding their awareness of life opportunities and providing them with education, guidance, and support through one-on-one mentoring relationships with caring adult volunteers. Before being accepted into our program, an extensive background search was performed on Maggie, including Child Protective Services and Virginia State Police. Maggie, a student at the University, was then matched in October 2014 with her Little Sister in our school-based program. I am the Match Support Specialist for their match. Maggie meets with her Little Sister for an hour each week at the school. Activities that they do include reading together, playing board games, playing computer games, and just being a good friend to her Little! If, due to her classes, Maggie s schedule did not allow her to meet her Little over their lunch time as most volunteers do, Maggie worked with the teacher to find another suitable time, so that she could continue seeing her Little Sister. Academically, her Little struggles and does not see the importance of school. English is a second language for her Little. Maggie has been such a good role model for her Little, and encourages her Little to do her best. Maggie exhibits a very polite, patient manner with her Little, has been a consistent volunteer and maintains regular contact with the BBBS staff and with her Little s teacher. This has been such a positive experience for the Little. Its been rewarding to see the progress that her Little has made - academically, in her confidence and self esteem! Maggie is also actively involved with the campus BBBS organization and has served as president. This organization supports our agency in a number of ways, including planning and hosting fun events for our community matches to attend, and fund-raising events. Please do not hesitate to call me with any questions or concerns. Thank you. Sincerely, Lisa S. Match Support Specialist
