Maddie needed a lot of reminders when caring for our 5 children. She tried hard, and was very nice. I decided I was happy to try to train her on the job because of how much my kids liked her, but we wanted to pay less due to the many supports/corrections/training needed on the job. Then after deciding to hire her, she agreed to be a W2 employee and we supported her thru the enrollment process. After that, she messaged me at 12am the night before her first shift backing out of the job entirely. She said she preferred to be paid under the table, and not file taxes. She was very kind, but her experience did not match the work I witnessed. Then backing out last minute, even after a kind text, was still unprofessional and not ideal for a busy family counting on her.
