I have been a Medical Assistant since 2004. I worked in a private practice setting until 2014 until I decided I needed to have more flexibility in my schedule for my children. In 2014 I started working with a couple of home care agency's. One of these agency's required and provided dementia classes and cooking classes that are focused on healthy foods older people should be eating for a balanced diet, focused on dementia and clients other that are prone to eating very small amounts to no good at all. The other agency I worked with, primary, went out of business and the clients I was working with at the time decided to go with different agency's. But still kept me on board for my regular shifts (as a private contacted care giver) and when I was able to cover more shifts with longer hours they opened the space for me. I have taken care of patients with Dementia (early and late stages), Parkinson's, MS, COPD, Lung cancer, and Quadriplegic.
