Get the Care you need and the Compassion you deserve. I love to help people and am good at it. I am known for my professionalism, compassion and commitment. I provide quality care for my clients with the respect and dignity they deserve. I have over 12 years of experience in assisting and taking care of others. I also have some occupational therapy assistant training. I understand looking for someone to care for your loved one is difficult. I learned that when I began to take care of my own mother who had dementia. I have extensive experience in a variety of situations, including but not limited to dementia including Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, blindness, and surgery recovery. I work with the family, not just the client.

For the final 10 months of my Mom's life, we had 24x7 care at home. Lois was a vital part of the team, taking the day shift. Lois was great. Mom loved being in Lois's care. They would play games (Mom loved crosswords and word search), watch TV, exercise, and walk daily. Lois would prepare meals and snacks for Mom. We had systems in place to provide the best possible care for Mom and documented about 20 data points per day. This would include devotional, meal time, bathroom time, medication, exercise, test results (Blood Pressure, O2, Kardia Mobile, and Weight) and more. We also had a notebook to record thoughts and comments on Mom's care that were outside of our standard documentation. Daytime necessarily includes most of these activities and Lois was able to handle any care task we asked with ease. Her work and her documentation of her work were extraordinary. Mom's care requirements necessarily changed and Lois was able to adapt accordingly. Mom developed late-onset Alzheimer’s disease. If you are not aware, that syndrome results in the afflicted needing more and more attention until care is almost continuous (as in Mom asking for help every 5 minutes). There is little nap time for Mom and little break for the caregiver. Lois proved excellent at dealing with this environment and often provided input as to improvements in our care regimen. While Lois normally worked the day shift, she was able to help cover other hours in an emergency. She helped me often as other care givers were on vacation or as needs arose. After Lois had worked with me awhile, I would have her assist in the interview process for new care givers. Her judgement is sound. Lois was a comfort for me. While I continued to visit Mom daily, I could visit as a son instead of a caregiver. It didn't matter if I visited during Lois's shift or during another caregiver, I count on Lois's work being impeccable. Unfortunately, my Mom passed. Had she not, Lois would still be working for me and would not be available to you. My advice to you is that if Lois responds to your ad, hire her. Pay her what she asks. Let her focus on providing care for your loved one. You will not let her go.
