Experience: 10 yrs
I am currently a stay-at-home mom of a2-year-old, former nanny, teacher of 8 years, and worked at several daycares and summer camps over the years. I have been home with my son since he was born and worked for a few families since then. Prior to that I worked as both an upper and lower elementary school teacher for Fairfax County and have my masters in reading from UVA. I'm also a certified reading specialist. My son is used to having other children around and loves playing with other kids-he's very social! I'm primarily looking for a playmate for him. I'm looking to work with a family who is willing to bring their child/children to my house as my son doesn't nap anywhere other than his crib, and he still needs his nap. However, if you're looking for something PT I'm willing to travel to your home if it doesn't interfere with nap-time (12-2pm). I also have 2 spare bedrooms for taking naps, a fenced in deck and yard and live in a cul-de-sac in a great neighborhood in Lake Ridge. I do have a large teddy bear of a dog, but he would be kept downstairs and wouldn't be around the children. With my education and background I plan to incorporate learning through reading stories, songs, arts and crafts and other educational activities depending on the age and needs of the child. In addition to the love and care I would provide to your child, I also want to be able to enrich their lives by encouraging life-long learning. I would do this through developmentally appropriate activities with plenty of opportunities for exploring, socializing and engaging. If interested, I would love to provide you with more information. If you would like to know more about me, feel free to contact me.

Lisa has been taking care of our two sons, born in May 2011 and in July 2013, since June 2014. Our older son has Autism Spectrum Disorder and requires someone who is able to handle both his special needs and care for our younger son at the same time. Lisa is patient, loving, firm, and consistent, and has been great with both of our kids. Lisa's son has been a great playmate for my kids and we have loved having him in our home. She goes above and beyond to make sure that the kids are stimulated, engaged, and active. The TV is never on, she is always trying some kind of activity with them, like finger painting, coloring, going to the playground, or playing with play-doh. One of Lisa's greatest qualities is her calm and confident demeanor. My kids have really responded to that and it has made a huge difference in the feeling in our home. When I get home from work, my kids are calm and the house is in order, which means I can enjoy some quality time with my boys instead of cleaning up the house and calming them down. She has very successfully translated her professional experience as a classroom teacher to the way she interacts with our children, and we have loved having her in our home. When we hired Lisa in June 2014, we wanted to find someone we could see being with our family for a long time. Lisa absolutely fit the bill, and we had every intention of having her work with our family for at least a couple of years. However, our personal circumstances changed very unexpectedly. My husband s mother is coming to live with us, so we will not be able to have Lisa continue on with our family. I wholeheartedly recommend Lisa without reservation. She would be an incredible addition to any home, and any family would be lucky to have her. I would be more than happy to talk more about our experience with her.
