It is our family's pleasure to confidently recommend Lisa as a caregiver and personal aid. For the past three years, Lisa has served as a full-time, exceptional care taker for our mother, Nancy. During that time, Lisa has proven to be reliable, nurturing, and trustworthy as she has cared for Nancy in our home. We've had the privilege of getting to know Lisa on both a personal and professional level, which has included having her children at our family gatherings. She has integrated beautifully into our family and become an invaluable part of the care team. From the start, Lisa has been very proactive and hands on in her role. She is comfortable working independently, and has always demonstrated sound decision making and leadership when required. Some of her greatest personal attributes are her innate warmth, positive attitude, curiosity for life, solid faith, and her commitment to be a protector. She always made Nancy feel safe and loved. In addition to that, Lisa is incredibly organized. She spent a tremendous amount of time planning and implementing daily, weekly and monthly activities to keep Nancy engaged. Lisa was exceptionally creative at planning outings to keep Nancy physically active and in touch with her community and friends. Seemingly, Lisa never ran out of ideas to keep Nancy excited about plans for the day. Some of these events included nature walks, museums, tennis, library visits, educational seminars, coffee with the police, art classes, and chair yoga. Lisa also ensured that essential doctor's appointments were made and drove Nancy so that she could personally advocate for Nancy. Lisa would take precise notes and disseminate all vital information to the family. She even built a complete file of essential medical records so that Nancy’s medical information was accurate and accessible for doctors and family members. She also ensured that medical directives and pertinent documents were in place and digitized in case of emergency. Not only did Lisa routinely demonstrated remarkable skill in caring for Nancy's health, but she also went above and beyond to support Nancy's interest in nature. Lisa built an incredible bond with Nancy thru discussion like "how do rain clouds form"; creating a bird sanctuary; watching nature documentaries, building bouquets in the garden; and even documenting the life cycle of monarch butterflies which they released after they hatched. Lisa's commitment to keeping Nancy connected to the people and things she enjoyed has undoubtedly extended Nancy's life and improved the quality of it. For holidays and birthdays, Lisa would sit with Nancy for hours filling out Christmas cards, designing invitations, and writing thank you notes for gifts received. Family gatherings have always been very important to Nancy and a central part of her life. Lisa was instrumental in making sure that those events continued in the home despite Nancy's worsening condition. Lisa and Nancy's ultimately became good friends and Lisa protected Nancy fiercely. She took her personal safety very seriously, but also respected Nancy's right to choose for herself and treated her with dignity. Lisa has consistently shown a deep understanding of Nancy's unique dementia related requirements and has helped to educate the family on stages. With her knowledge and experience, Lisa was able to tailored her approach that would bring out the best in Nancy. Moreover, Lisa's communication skills are exemplary. She has maintained open and effective communication with our family regarding Nancy's daily activities; personal observations and/or concerns; and medical information. Lisa was routinely assessing Nancy's dementia progression fand was the one who recommended a more medically focused care plan for Nancy. Her condition has continued to worsen and she now requires 24/7 medical monitoring. We only wish that we had heeded Lisa’s advice and implemented her recommendations sooner. Lisa's ability to convey important information with clarity and empathy to the entire family has been invaluable to us. She has continued to be a support during this time of crisis, help transition in the new medical team, and offer cheerful messages from Nancy's friends that she can no longer visit. Lisa's professionalism, reliability, and genuine concern for Nancy's welfare make her an outstanding care provider. We wholeheartedly recommend Lisa for any future caregiving positions. She is a true asset to any team and will undoubtedly provide the same exceptional care and support to others as she has to our family.
