My tutoring methodology involves encouraging students to discover answers for themselves rather than completing their homework myself. I firmly believe that discovering how to enjoy the process of learning is often as important as passing. Ideally students I work with would--through ascertaining how they best learn & establishing exemplary study habits--eventually no longer need my assistance. I have extensive professional tutoring experience from grade school to undergrad. I possess a BS in Biology & an almost MS in Marine Science; as such, I gravitate towards math & science. However, I have tutored all subjects (grade & high school levels) with more scientific content at the undergrad level. PLEASE NOTE-> Care prevents rate updates. My current rates are between $40-75/per hr depending on grade level, subject and travel distance.

Leisl began working with my daughter towards the end of algebra 1 last year, and is now tutoring her in geometry. She is a fantastic tutor! Liesl filled in some pandemic-related knowledge gaps, is helping my daughter build her confidence, and is working with her to establish a logical, repeatable, thorough approach to problem solving. I'm more concerned with my daughter understanding math and believing in her math abilities than I am around grades, but her grades have gone up significantly under Liesl's tutelage. Leisl is best for families who need and can offer schedule flexibility. She is sometimes unable to make a tutoring session, but is always happy to work around our schedule and lean in extra before a big test. I wish I'd had a tutor like Liesl when I was a kid!
