We cannot recommend Leslie as a caregiver. One hour before her first shift on Monday, she texted to say she couldn't start until Wednesday. When we asked what happened, she would only say her two sons weren't getting along, offering no other details. It was unclear why she couldn't rely on other family members or friends to handle the situation so she could honor her commitment to us. We had clearly communicated during interviews that we were depending on her that week, as I had mandatory work travel starting Tuesday. Her last-minute cancellation left us scrambling. Leslie did arrive Wednesday, but the next morning she abruptly quit via text, refusing to take our calls to discuss the situation or work things out. Immediately after parting ways, she began aggressively demanding payment despite our clearly stated practice of paying at week's end. The last-minute schedule changes, unwillingness to communicate directly, and lack of follow-through raised serious concerns about her reliability and professionalism. We need consistency and stability for our young children, and unfortunately Leslie did not provide either.
