Hi Care. com families! My name is Lela. I have 25+ years experience working with children ages 0-18 years of age. I have worked in a school setting as well as in private homes. I started as a lifeguard and swim instructor in high school. I then worked as a teacher with special needs children for 7 years. While working in the school setting I also worked as a nanny. I am now a certified newborn care specialist, postpartum doula and sleep trainer and consultant. I still work as a professional newborn nanny as well. I strongly recommend Lela and we certainly look forward to having her here again. The first day on the job Lela and my 4 month old son immediately took to each other. As first-time parents, she was so helpful, and the first thing she helped us improve upon was his feeding schedule as she quickly identified that our son was not frequently enough. Immediately we made small tweaks by increasing his daily eating times and amount, which subsequently greatly improved his sleep time. Lela actively engaged with our son to develop his awareness, core strength, hand/eye coordination, and some early developmental social skills. She took the initiative to take him on walks with the baby carrier when he needed to wind down from a busy day of activities. Everything from tummy time, to singing, to playtime made us feel confidence in knowing we have one of the best to watch him.
