About Leigh

Experience: 8 yrs

I have been with my husband for 34 years and have three grown kids. I left the Marion County school system after 10 years in 2017 to care for my mother-in-law who had Alzheimer's and Dementia. She was the first person that I cared for with a terminal disease. Since caring for her, I have cared for numerous clients with a range of terminal illnesses. I became a CNA as well in 2020. I have experience with clients with Alzheimers, Dementia, TIAs, strokes, muscle disorders, and Parkinsons. I have been a companion to my clients as well as doing light chores around the house. I also transported them to appointments and ordered supplies and groceries. I've done bill paying, too. One of my clients returned to her other home in April. My other client just passed away. I'm ready to care for someone else. I'm willing to be flexible with days and hours.

Words cannot describe how amazing Leighann was with my mother, who was in her 80s, lived alone and wanted to remain fiercely independent despite having Alzheimer’s and not thinking she needed, and definitely not wanting, any help. Leighann patiently built a loving friendship with my mother and was able to give my mother the help she needed without my mother realizing she was being “taken care of”, rather than just having a friend come to visit. Additionally, Leighann was amazing to work with behind the scenes helping me with the hidden cameras I was monitoring my mother with from afar. I could not have kept my mother at home without Leighann. She was tech savvy, and very creative/discreet in helping me problem solve to provide the care and protection my feisty mother needed to live alone, without upsetting my mother or making her feel like she was losing her independence. Needlesstosay, Leighann quickly became a super reliable, trustworthy, beloved friend and member of the family. Among the endless list of things Leighann did (and I’m not sure there is anything she couldn’t have done, if needed) were: picking up prescriptions and filling/maintaining the automatic pill saucer so my mother could take pills on her own; picking up groceries and quietly cleaning out the refrigerator and freezer when food expired; keeping track of what needed to be reordered and replenishing household items as needed; laundry (when my mom would let her – and when she wouldn’t let her, Leighann was able to secretly do it anyway and put it away so my mom thought she had done it herself); changed bedding; spent many hours talking, laughing and providing social visits, friendship and activity; drove my mother places when needed; helped with doctors’ visits; encouraged proper eating and drinking (and even brought homemade meals at times as a special treat – including homemade dog treats for the dog!); and was right there by my mother’s side until the very end. If you are looking for a very experienced, knowledgeable, caring, loving, hard-working problem solver that can win over even the most difficult personalities, Leighann is the caregiver for your family. Although my mother has passed and we no longer need Leighann’s caregiver services, she will remain a friend for life. I’m happy to personally talk to anyone who has any questions or wants a “live” recommendation. Leighann can give you my number. Jocelyn
