About Laurie

I am a reading, spelling and writing tutor. I can help students with phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension, and paragraph and essay writing. I have a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in reading education and literacy from George Washington University and a Ph. D. in linguistics from New York University. I have worked with elementary, middle and high-school students and in public, private and Montessori schools. I believe that literacy is a human right and that students with dyslexia and other reading problems can learn to read with proper intervention.
