I am an energetic, empathetic former teacher. I taught 8th-10th grade math in Denver Public Schools for two years, in addition to completing two summer teaching fellowships. Though I hated math as a student and my undergraduate degree is in history, I am a total convert now! The fun part of math exists, you've just gotta find what works for you. I have also coached multiple successful high school debaters, tutored in civics, and provided small group math intervention, working directly with students and families to meet specific educational goals. Moreover, I specialize in helping kids with ADD/ADHD, Autism Spectrum kiddos, and those who are working to build executive functioning skills. As a successful student and professional who has been forced to learn to cope with ADHD and other learning disabilities, not only can I empathize with these students, but I can provide a unique set of study skills and organizational techniques that can help all kids succeed.

I interviewed and hired Lauren P., and she worked with me for 2 years first as a Math Fellow and then as a Lead Fellow in the Public Schools, leading her own classes of small group secondary math instruction. Lauren dedicates herself to her students' success every day. Fellows are required to plan and prepare the units and lessons that they teach, prepare the resources in their learning environment, and grade assessments. Fellows practice several strategies for classroom management and student collaboration. Fellows also communicate with parents by making five parent phone calls per week. Lauren builds strong relationships with her students, becoming a tireless advocate and cheerleader for them. She is committed to service, behaves as an outstanding role model for students, and actively engages in her own personal and professional growth.
