About Lauren

As an occupational therapy student at CSU, I have a passion for helping older adults live with as much dignity, satisfaction, and independence as possible. When I am with your loved one, I strive to provide assistance and also empower them while receiving it: by giving choices and tuning into their wants and needs. In college, I had the privilege of working as both as a private and corporate caregiver. I have completed two internships in senior care: one as a rehab specialist in a skilled nursing facility and the other as support staff in an adult day-care program for individuals with dementia, brain injuries, and developmental disabilities. In this time, I've gained skills in in communicating with cognitively disabled individuals, adapting leisure activities to help someone mentally or physically challenged to participate, effectively addressing aggressive, socially inappropriate, or exit-seeking behaviors, providing assistance with self-care (including bathing and hygiene) and safely getting around with wheelchairs, walkers, and canes.
