About Laura

I have 20+ years of experience working with kids in all sorts of settings - churches, camps, daycares, public and private schools, nannying, orphanages, homework clubs. I have been a substitute teacher, tutored privately, taught English overseas, ran countless kids clubs and have homeschooled my kids for the past 8 years. We follow some of the gentle parenting practices focusing on giving kids a chance to try again and lots of controlled choices to encourage healthy independence and cooperation. We limit screens to mostly weekends and special occasions - the 2-year-old rarely has any of his own screen time. We prefer books, playgrounds and art projects. My family and I recently returned from living in Southeast Asia. (I moved there in 2006.) My 13-year-old will be attending school and I will be home with my 5 daughter and 2-year-old son. My daughter loves books, imaginary play, ballet and art projects. My son loves trucks being two. I'd be happy to help with your kids.
