Greetings. We are a retired military family. I am certified to teach regular education K- 6 and Special Education K- 12. I began teaching students with learning disabilities and never left, as that is where my love and gifting is. My expertise is with struggling readers and writers. I do assessments to identify strengths and weaknesses of the child, as that helps me learn how to use their strengths to work with the weaknesses. I utilize my own resources/curriculum, as I have found for many students, it is usually not a curriculum problem, or I pull from many places to meet the child's needs in order for them to be successful, build confidence and construct a tool box for them to learn from. I walk along side and help educate the parent too. We are a team.

After 2 years of virtual learning from home I found my nephew was 2 years behind in school. Laura has given us an honest assessment of what she can and cannot accomplish with the given time she has with him. She has done well with getting his grades up but has done a fantastic job of teaching him study habits and core values to help him progress in the future.
