About Laura

Although I graduated with an American Studies major, I studied early childhood education for the last three years of my enrollment. During these years, I worked in preschool, kindergarten, first grade and second grade classrooms. Along with education courses, I took many courses in child development. I am currently applying to graduate school to obtain my masters degree in early childhood education to pursue my future goal of becoming a teacher. I worked with children many years through babysitting, working in schools and summer camps. I am currently an employee with my towns recreation department, as an assistant program coordinator. The town has a summer program that runs all day for 7 weeks. This past summer as assistant coordinator, I was in-charge of the morning extended day program. During previous summers, I was a counselor at the camp and worked with kindergarten age children. During the school year, I run programs for preschoolers, toddlers and parent/child classes which consist of play time, arts & crafts and other age appropriate activities. I also have a 4-year-old nephew who I see and babysit for regularly. I enjoy living a healthy and active lifestyle. In my free time, I like to be outdoors and spend time with friends and family.
