About Kristin

I am a trained Montessori elementary teacher with several years' experience working with children between the ages of 6-12 in all subject areas. My approach is patient, supportive, and encouraging, and I prioritize building a positive relationship with each child that I work with. My training in the Montessori method means that I am skilled in teaching abstract concepts in very concrete ways, using manipulative materials whenever available. This approach lends itself to all subject areas and is helpful for all students, whether or not they attend a Montessori school. I also have experience tutoring children with dyslexia and other reading challenges using the Orton-Gillingham approach. This method is highly effective for children who struggle with reading, as it is systematic and integrates a multi sensory approach.
