I've always enjoyed the puzzle that school presented. Just as I've always enjoyed the puzzle that teaching does. I started in elementary school. Then formally became an english, history and math tutor at Kahuku High School. Then did the same in an informal way at UC Berkeley. I've since been fortunate to come back home and work within our environmental stewardship community here on Oahu. Also to pursue sailing, surfing, outdoor movement and travel projects. Experiences which I feel have complimented my time in the classroom. All of the lessons now coming together as I pursue a Masters degree from Harvard Extension School. My goal at a Care tutor is to explain any level of topic to the student in a clear and engaging way. From the most basic to the most complex. Always problem solving alongside them rather than providing answers from a pedestal. A practice I hope will lay the foundations for a confident, curious and critical thinking mind that succeeds in both school and life.
