About Kirby

I am a creative writing professional with 10+ years of education and five years experience teaching students ranging in age 13-21. With a Masters in Fine Arts in poetry and the belief that personal expression enriches the way we see the world and participate in it, I am dedicated to helping students develop their personal voice. I am qualified to instruct students in poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. College application essays, creative writing contest entries, and personal writing projects are some examples of the work I can assist students with. Beyond the finished product, deepening and expanding the writing process is an invaluable experience for young writers, giving them critical reading and thinking skills they can apply in many aspects of their lives. My work has been published in many prestigious literary journals and I earned an Excellence in Teaching award in 2022.
