About Kevin

I am an energetic person, who strives for excellence in all I do. I'm currently working with high needs and at risk youths and adults mastering the English language. I have been tutoring for 8 years, and I am trained in Orton-Gillingham method of reading instruction for individuals with Dyslexia. I know all students have the ability to learn and to grow and it is my responsibility to use the best research based method to help them succeed. Learning is a cooperative activity that students must willingly engage in with an instructional leader. My methods for inspiring students to learn involve creating an authentic relationship through genuine care and valuation. I use a variety of strategies to make learning fun such as 60 second mini games, modified content to align with interests, and 3-5 minute student-directed closing activities (talking, drawing, laughing, etc.). These methods compliment honest discussion about why I am working with the student and what we are working for.
