About Kelly

Hello! My name is Kelly. I am a certified K-5 elementary teacher and 6-8 English teacher looking for families to tutor this summer. I have 4 years of professional experience teaching in a 1st grade classroom and 10+ years working with children in various outlets, such as Summer Camps, Day Cares, Babysitting/Nannying, etc. I love working with all children and particularly love teaching in one-on-one or small group settings. Teaching reading and writing are my passion. I am knowledgeable in The Science of Reading and believe that phonics & phonemic awareness are the foundation to create strong readers. I also believe that with the right tools, children can develop a life long love of reading. I teach math interventions in my classroom daily, and work with students on building their number sense through manipulative tools, including blocks, counters, bead racks, etc. I would love to learn about your particular child's academic needs.
