I have a 9-year-old Yorkie who means the world to me and I groom her myself, so caring for dogs has been a natural part of my life for a while. When I lived with my parents, I helped care for my dad's German Shepherd by feeding, walking and grooming him when needed. During my time as an au pair in New York, my host family had two dogs, one of whom had three legs. While I wasn't their primary caregiver on a daily basis, I regularly let them out into the backyard for potty breaks. Whenever my host family traveled, I was responsible for feeding them, letting them outside, and making sure they were happy, comfortable, and well cared for. I've also boarded my friend's 14-year-old Dachshund in my apartment several times while she was away, ensuring he received plenty of attention and consistent care. In addition, I regularly cared for my neighbor's Labrador Retriever by feeding and walking her every afternoon while my neighbor was at work.
