My initial experience as a CNA was gained through an internship at an assisted living facility. This setting offered diverse opportunities to work closely with residents who required varying levels of assistance with daily living activities. I learned how to communicate effectively with both residents and their families, building trust and rapport as I supported their physical, emotional, and social needs. Being dementia care certified has equipped me with strategies to manage challenging behaviors and support individuals living with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. My CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications ensure that I am prepared to respond confidently to medical emergencies. Whether assisting with a fall, a choking incident, or cardiac events, I am able to provide immediate and effective interventions. This preparedness has given both residents and their families peace of mind, knowing that safety is a top priority in my care approach.
