About Kaya

I believe every student has unique strengths and potential, and effective tutoring starts with understanding how each student learns best. I hold a graduate degree in International Communication Studies and am a Fulbright Scholar with advanced Mandarin skills. I have experience tutoring elementary aged students in reading and writing. I previously worked as a Teach For America Ignite Fellow and helped 2nd graders catch up to school board standards and prepare for 3rd grade. In addition to tutoring, I have professional copyediting and writing experience in both journalism and marketing, so I can help students strengthen essays, papers, resumes, personal statements, and college or scholarship applications. I focus on helping students develop their own voice while making their writing clear, compelling, and polished. Whether online or in person, I'm committed to helping students become more confident and independent learners.
