About Katie

I am an aspiring Child Life Specialist. In a few years, I desire to work in a hospital with children and families by helping them cope with their medical experiences. My past experiences include working at a medical day care where I created goals to help children reach their highest level of development/ coping skills through play. In addition, I provided support and distraction for children 5 months to 16 years old. I completed a child life Practicum at Nemours Children's Hospital where I planned and implemented a therapeutic activity for a 14-year-old patient. I observed the child life practice with the autism population, rehabilitation unit, preoperative unit, emergency department and day med. My degree is in Child and Family Services. A few of the classes included child development, adolescent development, infants toddlers & families, death, grief & caring, ethics and families and disability and society.
