First time using this site to hire anyone to watch my child. Katherine seemed like a great fit. She was quick to respond with messages on the site, we (my husband and I) did a phone interview/answered questions she might have about the job requirements, agreed on a set pay rate in her range that was listed on the site and agreed on the start date. Checked all the boxes for hire and so she was that day over the phone. The day after she was hired, she sent a message to me asking for a higher pay rate/hour due to what information she gathered from other friends of hers that have done this job before. Didn't even negotiate with her, we just agreed to what she wanted. She did come to our home to meet our son she'd be working with and to meet us, get familiar with the drive distance, etc. Everything was great that day and we agreed she'd start on the set start date we had always listed on the job position and discussed. Less than 24 hours before her start date, she sent a message saying she is "out of town until next week. Did we want to get started next week?" This is now strike two, red flags are going off and we now have zero trust with her. Needless to say we spoke to her days later over the phone to inform her that her services were no longer needed.
