About Katelyn

I am a certified elementary and special education teacher. I worked as an aide in special education in grades K-5 for 8 years, and have been a special education teacher for the last 2 years. I have also been involved in a tutoring program for a school that I worked at. Mostly with 2nd and 3rd graders, but also with 4th and 5th graders. I was hired to run small group and individualized programs for students who needed extra support in math and literacy. My responsibilities included meeting with classroom teachers to discuss students strengths and weaknesses, after which I would build a curriculum for individual students based on their needs. Many of my teaching methods involve games, as to keep students interested, as well as involving as many of the learning styles as possible. I try to make learning as fun as possible, while focusing on trouble areas and thinking of new and meaningful ways to explain things to students that they may not be learning through conventional methods.
