About Karla

Hello, my name is Karla. I have worked several years as an elementary school teacher, a special education teacher, a tutor, and a nanny. Currently, I'm working part-time at Sylvan Learning Center. I encourage independence, curiosity, and creativity. My tutoring skills are best suited for the early childhood and elementary school level. As a nanny, I cared for a teenager with autism, helping him work through his morning routine while also completing minor household chores (laundry, sweeping, vacuuming, washing dishes). I'm very interactive with children and have experience with children who have autism, ADHD, or other diverse needs. I play, laugh, and smile often. I enjoy reading, music, games, art, cooking, baking, outdoor activities, and crafts. The light of my life is my 5-year-old son who is energetic, creative, inquisitive, and absolutely hilarious. I can bring activities if needed, but thanks to my son, I'm also an expert in imaginary play (e. g. the floor is lava, zombie attack).
