About Karen

For a little over 2 years, I have tutored 4 students from 2 different families. All of them were at different grade levels, all had challenges in certain areas. One student is dyslexic, and when she first came to me in May 2022, she could barely read at Kindergarten level. She just finished 4th grade reading curriculum before her family moved away, and is reading independently outside school hours. I grew attached to my students, and I love them like my own. I was teaching language arts, math, history, science, spelling, and academic writing to grades 3, 4, 6, and 10. I am CPR/First Aid certified. I hold a bachelor's degree in psychology, which I believe helps me understand students' mental and physical development, allowing me to meet them where they are. I try to make school days fun, with games or science labs or baking lessons. I've done escape rooms with my students. I am kind, but also firm, and I set expectations and boundaries early on.
