I gained infant and child care experience by taking care of my sister's four children. We spent a great deal of time together. Before my son was born, I had a small, in home daycare that provided me with more experience caring for infants, toddlers, twins as well as caring for a beautiful little girl. She was paralyzed from mid-chest down and had a shunt in her head. While I no longer have the day care, the experience and memories are a treasure. I have also worked for a child care program in a church with the 3-4-year-old group teaching crafts and reading to the children. My experience includes the care of infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and early elementary school aged children providing indoor/outdoor play, crafts, lots of time for reading. Assisting the children with proper pronunciation of letters and challenging consonant blends through silly songs provides them with confidence when they speak and can, in some cases, eliminate the need for speech therapy I love my job.
