I have had a great deal of teaching experience. I studied psychology at Roanoke College where I received a Bachelor's Degree. I continued my education at Teachers College, Columbia University where I earned my Master's Degree in childhood education and special education. I hold a valid teaching license in Virginia for general education (preK-6) and special education (k-12). I have taught in various teaching roles over the last 8 years. My most recent position was as a special education teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools. I left full-time teaching for this school year in order to spend more time with my young daughter and plan to return to the classroom as she gets older. I am trained in Phonics First (an Orton-Gilligham Phonics Program) and other phonics-focused reading practices. I am looking to tutor a few days a week.
