I was a nanny for over 30 years and still am occasionally. I cared for my bedridden Mom for the last 5 years of her life. Recently I had the pleasure of caring for a dear friends Mom with early dementia. During my time caring for my Mom and my friends Mom I realized that I loved caring for seniors. I am strictly a senior companion. I am unable to bathe and dress because I am not strong enough. I understand there are good and bad days and just like the children I cared for you must have patience and empathy but most of all you need to learn to love them. They may be elderly but they deserve dignity and respect. Also I found I had a lot of fun. Which is why I am making the transition from being a full time Nanny to Senior Companion care. They have a lot to offer if you just take the time to care, listen and eventually love them.
