Nanny for Budding Artists

Hi, I am a certified Infant/Toddler teacher with many years experience. I have worked for several years a lead teacher at MIT Children's Centers and also have training and experience as a Nursery/Kindergarten teacher in the Waldorf Schools. For the past 10 years, I have worked as a nanny for 8 wonderful families. I myself am an artist and I love to inspire the children in my care through my love of the Arts, books, music, creativity and beauty. I am a graduate of New York University with post-graduate studies in Writing for Children at Simmons College. In additon, I also like to offer children a lot of fun and interesting sensory activities (even for the youngest infants). I value going outdoors with them and experiencing nature and the changing seasons. If you are parents that would appreciate a grounding in all the Arts, language and literature for your child (the younger the child, the more impressionable), I hope you will consider me as your nanny.

"Nanny" doesn't begin to describe all that Julie has done for my son. In addition to providing the usual day-to-day care and being a loving, patient, and nurturing presence in his life, Julie has given him an unparalleled education in art, music, and literature. She and my son adore each other, and her experience as a teacher allows her to carefully monitor his development, adjusting his curriculum of activities, board books, and sensory toys to meet his needs. You could not ask for a more outstanding and enthusiastic caretaker!

After our 3 year old daughter was taken care of by Julie, I totally believe and can assure all the positive words in the reviews below. Julie brought so many great new things to our daughter and family. Julie exposed our kid to a variety of wonderful activities creatively and skillfully by extending our kid's interests. She, herself as an artist, led our kid to do beautiful artistic activities with unlimited diversity and high quality. She read her books, not just books but really beautiful books, played role plays with lovely items, brought educational toys, and engaged our kid in musical activities such as singing songs, dancing, and playing instruments. Julie read beautiful poems to our kid, awakening our kid's poetic spirit, so suddenly our kid amazed me by saying poetic words. Plus, our kid's Enlglish (second language) improved a lot with Julie as Julie became such a nice friend with our kid, talking a lot together. We are really grateful to Julie.

We used to think that Mary Poppins was a fictional character... until we met Julie. Julie is a magical infant educator/early childhood teacher.  She brings with her, not only a full, loving heart, but also an inspiring, engaging, and well-developed curriculum. Julie is an artist, musician, actor, and former lead MIT daycare infant/toddler teacher trained in Reggio and Waldorf approaches. Julie has exposed our son from infancy to beautiful language, literature, and the visual, dramatic, and musical arts.  Julie brings with her wonderful books, musical instruments, educational toys, high quality art supplies, and many other enriching materials. Julie is thoughtful, professional, and completely focused on the child/children within her care. Julie is a trusted member of our family. We completely adore her. We highly recommend Julie as a childcare provider and guarantee that you too will be amazed by all of the warmth, creativity, humor, joy, love, and engagement that she brings!

Julie raised both of my children from age 5 months to 1.5 years, until they graduated from her infant room at our childcare center. She became like a third parent in our family. She provides the emotional and intellectual nurturing that every child needs.

Julie is an artist and brings her creativity and passion to her work with children. She sings and plays guitar and dreams up inventive projects for them to do. She reads them poetry as well as children's books and provides many of things of beauty in their surroundings (colorful scarves, beautiful lighting, etc.) She is trained in the Reggio and Waldorf approaches to education and incorporates elements of both in her teaching. 

She is thoughtful, professional, and completely focused on the children in her care. She is also good at communicating with parents about their child's needs. Our son had feeding delays and she worked as part of our team to help him, going out of her way to accommodate our specialist that needed to come to her class.

I highly recommend Julie D. as a child care provider.

Julie has been a very special person for our family over the last 3-4 years.  She was the lead teacher in the infant room when my middle child (now 4) was a baby.  The work she did with him was amazing, and I still attribute his love of books and art to her.  We continue to use Julie as a babysitter, and she is always reliable, punctual, and comes armed with activities.  Julie is talented with all age groups, but she has a real passion for infants/babies that shines through.  After my third was born, she was the only person we trusted to watch him at around 6 weeks when we needed a sitter.  Could not be happier with the care she provides!

Julie is an exceptional educator and I am so happy to write this review of her.  Julie was the lead teacher in the infant room where my twins spent the school days from age 3 months to 15 months.  She was incredibly knowledgeable about infants and she was able to share that information with us in a way that helped us improve our parenting while validating what we were currently doing.  Julie is an artistic soul who acts, sings, plays guitar, and constantly creates beauty.  I was amazed at how she was able to share these experiences with my infants.  My children loved to play the guitar with her and they learned so many great songs.  She read poetry with them and guided them as they began to dress up and pretend play.  Julie has an extensive background in the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood learning; she even traveled to Italy one summer for additional training.  After my children "graduated" from her infant classroom, we continued to see Julie.  When I need childcare, I know that Julie will do an amazing job with them.  When she arrives with her guitar and favorite books, I know my children are about to have an excellent day.  The stories that they tell me (as well as Julie's detailed reports about what they have done that day) allow me to share in their adventures.  I recommend Julie without hesitation - my children have had a much richer childhood because of her presence in their lives.
