I'm a graduate student in the Program for Biomedical Science at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU). Due to my research experience, I've developed an interest in translational medicine and identifying small molecule targeted therapies for various complex genetic dysfunctions. I've started my thesis work, studying small molecules that can be used to attenuate cancer-induced weight loss. After earning a B. S. in molecular biology at the University of Washington (UW), I worked at Seattle Children's Research Institute and researched the underlying mechanisms of Leigh syndrome's progression. This work has led to five authorships, two being first-person authorships. I tutored in math while in undergrad. I worked with multiple students with experience ranging from algebra to calculus. During this time, I implemented different teaching techniques to help students with different learning styles.
