One of the many jobs built into being a nanny is tutoring. As a nanny, I had created effective routines for my charges of varied ages and learning styles. I have coached children who are working through traditional curriculums, as well as Common Core and even personalized home-school work. Recently, I have been finding my mind wandering back to "homework time." Often it was the most rewarding and surprisingly enjoyable part of my day. I loved the one-on-one time it required of me to provide each child. I also appreciate being able to employ the principles and techniques I study in class. Most significantly, I delighted in seeing the progress my charges made- not only on schoolwork, but also how that knowledge can be applied in the so-called "real world." To me, that is endlessly thrilling and magical. So, now that I have made the change from full-time nanny to full-time student, it makes sense for me to continue fulfilling one of the roles I find most satisfying.
