Everyone senior has a story. We all must take the time to listen. I have cared for a paraplegic, long term care to a dementia patient and assisted with a leukemia patient. As well as household care and cooking. I lived in with the dementia patient for 6 years. Help dressing and grooming, meal preparation, feeding, administered physician prescribed medication, engaged in conversation, practiced writing & reading with them, took on outings depending on moods, took to all doctors appointments, introduced music therapy and aroma therapy to instill calmness. Made sure tv shows watched did not instill fear or anger. Cleaned household. Prepared patient for bed. Paraplegic care included, bathing, grooming, dressing, meal preparation, household care, engaging in conversation and other activities, moral support. With the leukemia patient I stayed with him at the hospital 10 hours a day. Engaged in conversation, sanitized room, visitors wore masks, massage, hair & beard washing, manicures.
