About Josie

Experience: 6 yrs

Hello! I'm Josie and I'm 30 years old. I live in Spokane. I grew up on a 1200 acre ranch and love to go on hikes and be outside in all seasons with my almost 3yr old Border Collie. I was a nanny for a 6yr old and 8yr old for 2 years and absolutely loved it! I then nannied for an 8-month-old medically fragile baby girl and her 2yr old brother, I learned a ton getting to care for these two and loved every moment. I have experience caring for infant twins and also have cleaned off and on for the past 10years! I am extremely reliable and trustworthy. I am currently open to a part time nanny/cleaning job. Have a wonderful day! :)

Review: I'm writing this review with caution to let any future individuals know that Josie really let our family down. We connected on care and quickly interviewed her at our home and called one of her references before hiring her and everything seemed great. Importantly we let her know our 3 month old was on an eating schedule and that he requires more interaction than most 3 month olds. We also have a large dog that is hyper and we introduced her to him and she seemed to have no issues. I work from home so we made it clear in the interview that if he was a super easy baby we wouldn't be looking for a nanny. Josie nannied for us one day, while I was home and I thought everything went completely normal, then I got this message today: Hey Bridget I've been thinking a lot about Tuesday and I don't think im the right nanny for your family. I don't agree with having an infant on an eating schedule. I think at that age they should be getting offered food pretty much anytime they cry, at that young of an age babies pretty much eat and sleep all day. I can respect the fact he's your baby and you choose how he's taken care of. But I can't get on board with having a 3month old on a feeding schedule, it also is concerning you said he only naps once a day, he should be sleeping way more than that, if he's hungry and crying that could be why he's so fussy and also why he isn't sleeping as much as he should. He should be sleeping off and on all day. Im not trying to tell you how to parent im just sharing my experience from 10+yrs of nannying. He's such a sweet boy! I'm sorry for any inconvenience. Thank you for the opportunity. I hope you guys find a nanny that fits what you are wanting. While this may be how she truly feels it is far from how she expressed herself during the interview and the full day she nannied. Before putting our child on a feeding schedule we did a lot of research on our own and discussed it with our pediatrician for a thumbs up based our child's positive weight gain for both total gain from birth and average daily gain percentiles. While on this eating schedule our child sleeps on average 8 hours in a row at night and does take some naps during the day, he's just not a super nappy little baby. His feedings start every 3 hours and by the time he ends feeding it's about 2.5 hours to 2.2 hours between being feed. Our conclusion is that Josie simply can't handle the effort of an active baby and likely the distance and effort to drive to our house on the military installation even though she also said that was a non-issue. We were paying her a $20 an hour rate and had also discussed one day a week $25 an hour if cleaning or cooking help was done, which was the rate she presented. We hope for the best for Josie because she does seem like a friendly individual but to go through the whole effort we did and then have her message us like that we want other potential parents to be aware.
