I have recently been fortunate enough to aid in elderly care, in a not so happy manner. I have a father who is walker limited, on Peri-dialysis, diabetic and has congested heart failure. I have worked with physical therapist, heart/GP/kidney doctors to assist with care for him. I relieve my mother on many occasions. I also am able to assist with care for an 85-year-old man. He too, has mobility issues and diabetes. At times he can be a bit challenging but I look so forward to my time with him. Although not professionally trained in elderly care I feel strongly I have sufficient experience. On a sad note, I feel the elderly are overlooked. We do not cherish their memories and knowledge, which is a shame. I would love to spend time with someone in their golden age!

Jodie is our oldest daughter. She is always there for us when we need assistance. Her father does peritoneal dialysis nightly, plus other health issues that limits his mobility. Jodie always took training on the dialysis procedure. She has made herself aware of the meds and food restrictions that pertains to her father's health. Last fall I had cancer surgery, followed up with chemo and radiation. Between her and our other daughter, who lives in Chicago, I did not have to worry about my husband's health, errands being ran, household chores getting done and doctor visits. For trips to the hospital emergency room, I can count on Jodie to be there for us, night or day. We have truly been blessed with two caring daughters.
