About Joanne

I am a special education teacher with certification in Orton-Gillingham, PAF (Preventing Academic Failure), and Writing Revolution. I have 29 years of experience teaching students K-5 how to read/write utilizing a multi-sensory approach. I also have experience utilizing the Wilson Reading Program. I'd describe my personality as patient, compassionate and flexible. I like tutoring because I sincerely enjoy helping children learn how to read; especially when they've been struggling for far too long. Seeing their face light up when they understand is priceless. I'm looking to provide tutoring over the summer. My hours are very flexible. I started tutoring about 5 years ago. In my spare time, I like to read, practice yoga, hike with my family, and go to the beach in the summer. My skills include utilizing a multi-sensory approach to reading/writing. I know how to incorporate games into our lessons to make learning fun.
