In 1996, my grandmother had a stoke. She was bed ridden and needed care 24hrs a day. She lived with her daughter, my mother. I would go up and take care of my grandmother, so my mother could get out on her own for a little while. I would go every Sunday for 6 hours and one day during the week for a few hours. In 2000, we found out my mother had pancreatic cancer. She only lived for three and half months after we found out. She was bedridden and needed care 24/7. We cared for her at home, we have a large family so we made a schedule, it worked. We had to double up because she needed so much care. During that same time we found out my dad had lung cancer. He passed in 2001. I have handled adult care on all levels. Can not do any heavy lifting or taking then out. Can feed, help with med.'s., getting dressed, can take care of if bed ridden.
