Social worker turned nanny! Bachelor's degree in sociology. CPR certified. First-aid trained. 1 of 7 children, I've always been incredibly family oriented. Nannying has been quite rewarding in this vein! I pivoted out of social work in 2022 in order to re-asses my goals, which has led me into the world of concerted child-care. I've been very fortunate to work with some amazing families, with children mostly ranging from 13months - 3 years of age. I do also have quite a bit of infant experience 3mo - 9mo. I most enjoy this work when all parties are engaged. Outdoor activities, nature walks, museum trips, or indoor scavenger hunts. Everyone is happy when everyone is happy! When I'm not nannying, I enjoy everything outdoors related. Camping, biking, hiking, backpacking. Learning how to bake bread. Enjoying getting adjusted to Pittsburgh! Currently available for part-time employment. 20hrs/week. Let's connect!

Jessica worked with us full-time during a uniquely formative year for our bright and exceptionally energetic son: a year that saw him turn 3, give up a beloved daily nap, venture into his first preschool situation, and make the transition from diapers to training pants to big-boy undies..to big-boy undies worn so confidently we’ve stopped keeping backup Pampers on-hand. Jessica turned out to be just the right fit for helping us sort out the parenting around these high-stakes milestones, and for running the show in our stead whenever we found ourselves handcuffed to work-from-home desks. We liked that she could improvise her own scripts/techniques for handling meltdown moments, while always proactively making sure she was calibrated to what we were thinking—even if we hadn’t fully articulated it ourselves. We were impressed with her deft juggling of a super-saturated toddler schedule that included a haphazard (our fault!) smattering of Little Gym sessions, swim lessons, trampoline-park playdates, regular-park playdates, martial arts classes, library storytimes, duck feedings, goat feedings, berry pickings, kids’-movie nights at the local pizza joint, and random one-offs. We trusted her driving. She came in on time. She was good at playing one-on-one with our son. But beyond the nuts-and-bolts stuff, what we appreciated most about working with Jessica was her gentle, generally unrattle-able bedside manner—not just with our son but (especially, actually) with the world-at-large. With the kindergarten teacher, the swim instructor, the receptionist at the gym. With the other parents. With the barista fetching our son’s cookie. With the airport gate agent when she’d accompany us on travel. Because at the end of the day, the aspect of parenting we’re probably the most anxious about outsourcing during business hours isn’t so much the potty training or even the tantrum whispering. It’s the gentle modeling for our son on how to interact with the world, both verbally and vibe-istically. All that, plus she’s great for date nights and can whip of a healthy-ish toddler-friendly snack from the most randomly stocked refrigerator situations the world has ever known. Give her a try!
