About Jen
Experience: 10 yrs
I've been working with children (and parents) for more than 20 yrs, about half of that time has been in a classroom setting as an early childhood teacher, and the other half was spent as a home visiting lactation educator, postpartum doula and/or nanny. I also homeschooled my own two kids during elementary. I went to school for early childhood education long ago, but have stayed committed to continuing education throughout the last two decades, most recently I took a course on executive functioning brain development in the early childhood years at community college. My strengths are in art and socio-emotional learning as well as anti bias education and developing a strong concept of one's self as a learner and community member.

I hired Jen twice, originally as a postpartum Doula and later as a nanny for a short time when we had a gap in childcare when my husband went back to work. As a newborn caregiver she is gentle, confident, nonjudgmental, and left us better rested and more comfortable. She’s has a wealth of knowledge about infants and taught us all of her tricks! We had her back a year and a half later as a live-in nanny. She introduced our daughter to play dough, paint, and collage. Jen had her out digging in our garden and splashing in puddles. I felt totally comfortable having Jen in my home, and came home every day knowing that my daughter had been safe, cared for, and had a blast that day.
