About Jay

I am a patient, compassionate, and enthusiastic caregiver. I have experience working as a preschool teacher, where I found my calling in Special Education. Currently, I am pursuing my Master's degree in SpEd at Drexel. My program is remote and asynchronous, so, though the work is very time consuming, my schedule is quite flexible. When working with kids, I focus on play-based learning to keep them engaged and enriched. At my previous school I lead the after school arts program, so I love planning/improvising crafts and games using the toys and materials available. I do not have a car, but am very comfortable walking long distances with a stroller or chaparoning children on public transit to take them to the playground, museums, etc.

Jay was our older daughter's first classroom teacher during the 2023-24 school year, and we couldn't have been more thrilled! Our daughter had just turned two and was an especially reserved toddler! With Jay's help, our daughter learned to LOVE school, knowing that there was an incredibly creative, nurturing, and energetic caregiver waiting for her each morning! All the parents I knew adored Jay and wanted their child to be in Jay's class! Since then, we have eagerly welcomed Jay into our home as a treasured babysitter for our two girls, now 4 and 2 years old. As a career educator, I marvel at Jay's technical competence, experience, and ability to manage a roomful of toddlers! As a parent, I marvel at Jay's unflappable good nature and seemingly boundless energy. Separation anxiety, potty training woes, bedtime battles -- Jay has navigated it all with grace and humor! Our whole family always looks forward to seeing Jay, as do so many other families in our neighborhood!
