I hired Isabelle for a full-time nanny position months in advance, with a written agreement in place after several positive conversations about the role. She seemed genuinely enthusiastic about joining our family and caring for our child. Shortly before the start date, she withdrew from the agreement, citing ambiguous circumstances without further explanation. This was especially difficult timing, as we are relocating across the country with a new baby and had planned our childcare around her start date. Based on this experience, I’d caution other families on hiring her and if you do have a backup plan in place, even with a signed agreement.
