In college, I tutored at a parochial school and a community center. As a teacher of 30 years, I worked In the public schools; in Middle School, I taught Reading and American History, then in High School I taught sociology, government, American foreign policy, American domestic policy, global history, and Advanced Placement American history. After retirement, I taught 3rd grade reading in the Columbus Public Schools; then PreK to 3rd grade for 5 years at A Grade Ahead, an after school program. As much as I enjoyed teaching secondary social studies and working with my kids, my years in teaching elementary reading and at A Grade Ahead, showed me that I loved working with elementary students and that teaching reading could be the most fun in the world. It required an eclectic and creative approach that stimulated me and made me glad to come to work everyday. In summary, I have found that I enjoy working with students of just about all ages in a one on one situation.

I have known Iris Elaine for over 25 years as we worked together at Upper Arlington High School and became close friends during that time period. Elaine is a bright creative individual who has worked well with students, staff and parents. As a teacher of high school age students she always challenged the students and found ways to make the material presented relevant for them. Most recently she has worked with third grade student to improve their reading comprehension and again found ways to make learning a fun rewarding experience for her students. Ms.C. is a very responsible person who will determine how to best solve a problem and devote her efforts to meeting the needs of her employer or clients. I would highly recommend her for a position.
