About Imani

I started my childcare journey at just 12 years old by caring for children at my church. At 13, I volunteered at my local daycare for a summer. That next summer I was hired at Urban Promise as a camp counselor, then promoted to the field supervisor position some years later. Not too long after, I was hired at a different daycare where I connected with a family who had a baby boy. He was about 5 months when I met them. I would babysit him and his siblings occasionally. After about a year, his parents asked me to be his Godmother. He's now 2 years old and we're still so close! I enjoyed working at the daycare, but I needed more money to support myself. I signed up to be a substitute teacher which is my current occupation. This past summer I also directed my first program and had a blast doing it. I've been working with children for over 10 years now and I've cared for so many that I've now lost count! I'm excited to connect with more families and serve as a light to more children.
